Navajo tacos and cookies fundraiser set

Fruita United Methodist Church will have a Navajo taco/cookie walk and bazaar fundraiser Nov. 3 at the church, 405 E. Aspen Ave. in Fruita.

The cookie walk and bazaar will be from 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m. with Navajo tacos being served from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4–6:30 p.m.

Cost for the meal, includeing a homemade dessert and beverage, is $9 for adults and $4 for ages younger than 10. Proceeds will help pay down a loan for the replacement of the church boiler that heats the church.

Churches to hold trunk-a-treat events

 

Several local churches have planned free trunk-a-treat events for kids on Halloween eve:

■ Covenant Presbyterian Church, 237 32 Road, 4:30–6 p.m. There will be candy and gifts from decorated car trunks in the church’s parking lot.

■ First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 1/2 Road, 4–6 p.m. Halloween treats and fun for elementary-age kids will happen in the church’s parking lot. Call 242-1923 for information.

■ United Church of Christ Congregational Church, 1425 N. Fifth St., 5 p.m.–sunset. There will be trick or treating — wear a costume if you wish — s’mores and hot chocolate, in the church’s parking lot. Call 242-0298 for information.

Grace Church to have ‘Guardrails’

 

Grace Church will start a new six-week series titled “Guardrails,” in which the congregation is challenged to establish some personal guardrails in friendships, finances and marriages.

The church meets at 10:30 a.m. Sundays at 2817 North Ave., next to Kmart.

Animal Memorial Service planned

 

Paws For A Blessing will have its first animal memorial service from 5–6 p.m. Nov. 4 at Church of the Nativity, 2175 Broadway, across from Redlands Middle School.

Bring a photo of a companion animal you have loved and lost. The event will be outside so dress for the weather.
