Rifle girls rally to beat Eagle Valley

The Rifle girls basketball team trailed by 11 points in the third quarter but stormed back to beat Eagle Valley 44-39 in Class 4A Western Slope League action Tuesday.

Chante Church led the Bears (5-6, 5-2 WSL) with 25 points.

The Devils dropped to 9-5, 5-3.

Olathe 56, Coal Ridge 42: Theresa Tafoya scored 20 points to lead Olathe (11-2, 8-2 3A WSL), which limited Coal Ridge (8-5, 6-4) to three points in the third quarter to pull away.

Gunnison 48, Cedaredge 44: Gunnison (4-8, 4-5 3A WSL) outscored the Bruins 17-9 in the fourth quarter to rally. Cedaredge dropped to 8-4, 7-3.


Wyatt Robinson scored 15 points as Rifle routed Eagle Valley 57-26.

The Bears (8-3, 5-2 WSL) also got 13 points from Tanner Quick.

The Devils fell to 4-10, 2-6.

Vail Christian 52, De Beque 27: Ethan Ellsworth scored 22 points to lead Vail Christian (9-2, 3-0 Class 2A/1A WSL) past the Dragons (3-9, 0-3).

David Aiuto led the Dragons with nine points, surpassing 1,000 points for his high school career.

Aspen 61, Grand Valley 46: The Skiers (9-2, 8-0 WSL) outscored the Cardinals 22-12 in the final quarter to stay unbeaten in 3A WSL play.

Grand Valley fell to 6-6, 5-4.
