Burns, Hemond selected late in baseball draft
The Colorado Rockies selected Grand Junction High School graduate Casey Burns in the 37th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.
Burns was drafted as a third baseman, but played shortstop for the Tigers. He hit .244 with one home run and 16 RBI for the Tigers last season.
Montrose pitcher Zane Hemond was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 40th and final round.
