Junction’s Jaclyn Murray finishes second in Colorado Junior PGA
Erie’s Hailey Schalk won the Colorado Junior PGA that ended Wednesday by 11 strokes over Jaclyn Murray of Grand Junction.
Schalk, who won the Class 3A high school title in May, shot a three-round 222 at the Eisenhower Golf Club’s Blue Course at the Air Force Academy.
Murray, who lists her home course as Bookcliff Country Club, shot a 233. She placed 13th in the Class 5A state competition while playing for Regis Jesuit.
Lauren Murphy, a Glenwood Springs High School player, finished eighth at 246.
Grand Junction High School’s Gracie Olkowski placed 13th at 253.
In the boys competition, Davis Bryant of Aurora shot a 215 and won by two strokes.
Several Western Slope golfers played well.
Jack Hughes of Aspen finished in a tie for third at 227, with Eagle’s Barrett Jones at 230 to tie for 11th, and Micah Stangebye of Montrose was at 231, good for a tie for 13th.
Canon Olkowski finished 19th at 236. The Grand Junction High School junior shot a final-round 76.
