Cook places 10th, 12th in California
Sabré Cook placed 10th and 12th last weekend in the Gatorz Challenge of Americas International series finale at the CalSpeed Karting facility in Fontana, Calif.
It was the Grand Junction 17-year-old’s best combined weekend result this season in the Senior Rotax Division.
“I feel great to complete the series with our best combined weekend results,” Cook said in a press release. “Challenge is the name of the series for a reason. We had our hurdles to overcome, but in the end we gained a lot of experience racing against some of the best Rotax drivers in the country. I’m very thankful for my mechanic Kimball Williams, the Tru Tech Rotax engines, CRG-USA and my family for their support. I’m really looking forward to jumping back in my shifterkart for this summer.”
Cook started 18th in qualifying and moved up four spots for the pre-main event. She slipped to 20th in the opening lap, but finished 10th in Saturday’s main event.
On Sunday, she fell back to 19th with engine problems. After a debriefing for the final changes, she finished 12th.
Cook will compete April 20-22 in the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals in Phoenix.
