Tigers win Cortez Invite title

Grand Junction opened the season with a strong showing at that Cortez Invitational on Thursday.

The Tigers won the team title with a 12-over-par 228.

Led by Canon Olkowski, who shot an even-par 71 to place third, the Tigers had three golfers in the top five. Blake Schneiter and Carson Kerr tied for fifth at 78.

Cris Rudosky of Montezuma-Cortez and Carlo Pine of Telluride tied for individual medalists honors at 1-under 71.

Fruita Monument was led by Blake Anderson, who placed fourth with a 74.

Sean Kennedy was eighth at 81 and Jaydin Berta ninth with an 82 for the Wildcats.

Fruita Monument was second in the team competition at 237, and Central was fifth at 285.
