Junction falls to Cherokee Trail

Cherokee Trail, ranked No. 5 in Class 5A, defeated the Grand Junction High School boys basketball team, 69-40, on Wednesday at the ThunderRidge-Heritage Tip-Off at Heritage High School.

Cherokee Trail (1-0) led Grand Junction (2-2), 37-21, at halftime.

The Aurora Sentinel reported on its Twitter sports page that Cherokee Trail scored 10 of the final 12 points of the first quarter.

The Cougars led Grand Junction, 21-13, after the first quarter.

D.J. Wells led Grand Junction with 13 points.

Broderick Robinson added 12 points for the Tigers, including a 3-pointer.
