GJ Rockies to buy uniforms for county high schools

The Grand Junction Rockies have pledged to purchase new uniform for high school baseball and softball teams in Mesa County the next 12 years.

In a release Saturday, the Rockies said the club will buy 25 uniforms (home and away) for varsity baseball and softball teams for Central, Grand Junction, Fruita Monument and Palisade high schools on a rotating basis, starting this spring.

“This gesture from the Grand Junction Rockies will be a tremendous boost to our supply budget,” School District 51 Athletic Director Paul Cain said in the release.

Michael Ruvolo, the assistant general manager of the GJ Rockies, added “I have tremendous respect for kids who participate in extra-curricular activities; they embody the spirit of our community.”

The club’s inaugural season in Grand Junction begins in mid-June.
