Monument rebounds to win Major Boys District 1 Tournament title
Matt Adams and Jase Satterfield hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the game Saturday night for Monument, which beat Grand Mesa 7-2 at the Monument Little League complex to win the Colorado Major Boys District 1 Tournament championship.
Monument, which bounced back from a 6-3 loss in seven innings to Grand Mesa on Friday, never trailed.
With the victory, Monument will host the Colorado Major Boys state tournament, which begins July 14.
Satterfield pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and one earned run with one walk and 12 strikeouts in six innings. He struck out the side in the third, fourth and sixth innings and finished two pitches short of the age-group pitch limit of 85.
Braden Blanck went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Dagen Harris also doubled for Grand Mesa, which put runners on base in all but the fifth inning.
Ben Coleman added a two-run single in the third inning for Monument.
Ryker Harsha also pitched six innings for Grand Mesa, allowing four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
In the 8-10 district tournament, Monument defeated Colorado River Valley 20-13 to win the tournament title.
