Colorado Mesa women finish fourth in nation in team GPA
Colorado Mesa’s women’s basketball team finished fourth in the nation in team GPA among NCAA Division II basketball teams and earned a spot on the WBCA academic honor roll.
The Mavericks had a 3.699 cumulative team GPA this past season, the only RMAC team to finish in the top 25 and one of only five teams in the top 25 to reach the NCAA playoffs.
Upper Iowa University, which went 5-22, had the top overall GPA in Division II at 2.801. Ohio Dominican was second at 3.793 and Lindenwood University (Missouri) third with a 3.759 GPA. The Mavericks had the highest team GPA among the NCAA playoff teams.
The women’s basketball team also had the highest GPA among all athletic teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this past season and received the conference’s Bechler Award for women’s basketball, one of four CMU teams to be honored in their respective sport. Men’s basketball, women’s soccer and volleyball also topped their respective sports in the conference.
