Fruita Major Girls lose in Texas

The Fruita Little League Major Girls lost 17-1 on Thursday night to Robinson (Texas) at the Major Girls Southwestern Regional in Waco, Texas.

Haleigh Meyers scored the only run for Fruita in the third inning and Lexie DiDonato had the only hit, a single in the fourth inning. Robinson, the Texas West representative, had 13 total hits and a 10-run third inning put the game away.

Robinson advances to play Pine Bluff American (Ark.) tonight at 4:30 p.m. MDT. Fruita will play the loser of Copper (Minn.) and Elgin (Texas) on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. MDT.

■ The Monument Major Boys lost to North Boulder 6-5 on Thursday in the championship game of the Colorado state tournament. Monument took a 5-4 lead in the top of the 6th inning.

North Boulder hit a two-run, walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth. North Boulder moves on to represent Colorado in the regional tournament in Waco, Texas.
