KidzPlex team wins own tourney
The KidzPlex Level 7 team took first place in the Best of the West Invitational last weekend at KidzPlex Gymnastics.
Abrey Thornburg placed second all-around (36.5), including a first place on beam (9.5) to lead the Level 7 team. Kynlee Renfro was third all-around (36.45) and Shaylee Wirthlin was fourth (36.3).
Olivia Aslan led the third-place Level 4 team with a first-place all-around score of 36.85 in Senior B. She was first on bars (9.1) and beam (9.4). Kayla Keith took first place all-around (36.85) for the fourth-place Optional A team. She was first on vault (9.0) and first on floor (9.3).
Sierra Huseby led the second-place Optional B team with a second-place all-around finish (36.85). She was first on bars (9.7) and first on beam (9.45).
Isabell Stecklein was second all-around (33.85) in open optional.
GJ’s Jon Blair in first at nationals
Jon Blair of Grand Junction ran his record to 27-3 and sits in first place in the boys division after two days of the National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J.
After going 17-1 in games Monday, Blair went 10-2 Tuesday to keep the lead going into today’s final round of preliminaries. Glade Park’s Sam Lee went 10-4 in his games Tuesday to run his overall mark to 20-10, which puts him in ninth place.
In the girls division, Grand Junction’s Katie Carozza and Glade Park’s Anna Lee are tied for sixth after two days, each with a 26-10 record. Carozza went 15-5 on Tuesday and Lee was 14-6.
The top eight mibsters in each division after today will advance to Thursday’s semifinals.
