KidzPlex’s Kracht wins state title
Kelsie Kracht won a state title in the Level 7 Senior division on bars (9.25) and took third all-around (36.35) to lead the KidzPlex Gymnastics team last weekend at the Xcel Optional state meet in Denver.
Kracht placed third on vault (9.45), seventh on beam (8.35) and ninth on floor (9.3).
Sierra Huseby of KidzPlex won the Level 5 Child bars title (9.55) and placed seventh all-around (35.075). She was seventh on vault (8.65) and ninth on beam (8.475).
Emily Leger led the Level 6 team with a fourth-place finish on bars (8.9). The junior division gymnast was seventh on floor (9.35) and 10th on beam (8.6).
Grand Junction’s Jonathan Blair climbed two spots into third place Tuesday during the second day of the 89th annual National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J.
Blair, who is 13 years old, ran his record to 22-8 heading into today’s third round of preliminaries. The finals are Thursday for both divisions, boys and girls, with competitors ranging in age from 8 to 14.
Blair also recorded two sticks Tuesday, meaning he started the match and never allowed his opponent to get a turn.
Sam Lee, 12, of Glade Park, is in fifth place in the boys division with a 21-9 record.
In the girls division, Day 1 leader Katie Carozza, 12, of Grand Junction slipped to fifth place Tuesday. Her record now stands at 18-8, and Glade Park 10-year-old Anna Lee sits in 12th place with a mark of 12-14.
