Montrose rallies past Central
The Montrose High School baseball team scored eight runs in the second inning to defeat Central, 12-11, at Montrose.
Central (11-7, 4-5 Southwestern League), which scored five in the first inning, had home runs by Michael Price and Kyle Serrano.
Durango (12-7, 6-3 SWL), Montrose (13-3, 6-3) and Grand Junction (13-6, 6-3) are in a three-way tie for first in the SWL with one game remaining Thursday for each.
Flannery Davis had two goals as Palisade High School defeated Eagle Valley 4-2.
Palisade (9-5, 8-3 4A Western Slope League) outshot Eagle Valley, 30-5.
Aubrey Raymond-Stafford and Natalie Combs also scored goals for the Bulldogs.
Montrose High School won the Rifle Invitational, placing two players in the top 10.
The Indians defeated a field of 13 with Rifle (274) second and Grand Junction (280) third.
Rifle’s Taylor Walters won individual honors, shooting an 80.
Montrose’s Kala Keltz was second (84) and Madison Gill third (86).
