Mavs’ Briley Guarneri is RMAC academic player of the year
Colorado Mesa keeper Briley Guarneri not only has six shutouts in seven victories entering Wednesday’s game, he’s also the top soccer player in the conference in the classroom. The sophomore from Gilbert, Arizona, was selected the RMAC academic player of the year with a 4.0 GPA in nursing.
Five other players made the honor roll: redshirt freshman Geoffery Chappaz (3.87, athletic training), sophomore Zach Fronapfel (3.50, criminal justice), sophomore James McGhee (3.87, mechanical engineering), sophomore Matt Miller (3.83, biology) and sophomore Dustin Wagner (3.86, kinesiology).
The CMU women’s standout sophomore keeper, Janelle Richmond-Buccola, made the all-academic first team, with a 3.81 GPA in mass communications.
Nine others are on the honor roll: seniors Taylor Bruno (3.71, sociology) and Lauryn Lee (3.97, business); juniors Amanda Wenzel (3.76, nursing), Halie Bergeron (3.71, mass communications) and Haley Glassy (3.6 kinesiology); sophomores Allie Davis (3.39, business), Mikayla Hix (3.77, criminal justice) and Heidi Wendt (3.88, radiology) and redshirt freshman Hannah Naftanel (4.0, elementary education).
