KidzPlex Level 3 team wins title
The KidzPlex Level 3 gymnastics team won the six-team Taylor Moore Invitational last weekend at its home facility.
Ashlyn Plantiko won the all-around title with the highest score in the competition, a 38.0. Plantiko won the balance beam and uneven parallel bars event titles in the Junior B division. Gia Colosimo was second all-around (36.8).
Hailey Schmitt was first all-around (37.55) and won the bars and beam titles in the Junior A division. Abby Deeths was third all-around (36.4).
In the Child A division, Miranda Deeths won the all-around (35.3) and beam titles, with Ashley Kennedy, who won the bars title, second all-around (34.1). Kaylee Hale was third all-around (33.95).
Amber Smith placed third all-around (35.1) in the Child B division.
In the Level 4 Child A division, Grace McCrum won the all-around title (35.55), plus the bars and beam competition. Nautica Rodriguez placed third all-around (36.0) and won the floor exercise in the Junior A division. In Junior B, Aaliyah Smith was third all-around (36.2) and won the bars competition.
Mavs’ Jackson earns RMAC award
Spencer Jackson’s goal against Colorado School of Mines helped the Colorado Mesa men’s soccer team defeat the Orediggers for the first time in school history last week.
Jackson, a freshman midfielder from Palisade, was selected the RMAC offensive men’s soccer player of the week after helping the Mavs to a 2-1 win. Jackson scored two goals last week, scoring the Mavs’ first goal against Colorado Christian in a 3-1 victory. The goals came on Jackson’s only shot on goal in each game.
