Wacker 2nd in Moab half-marathon


Grand Junction runner Marty Wacker finished second Sunday in the 9th annual The Other Half, a half-marathon in Moab, Utah.

Wacker’s time was 1 hour, 20 minutes, 5 seconds, and race winner Kenyon Neuman of Boulder broke the course record with a time of 1:09:09, beating the old mark by 41 seconds.

The 13.1-mile race was completed by 1,459 runners. The women’s winner was Sarah Louise Cumber of the United Kingdom with a time of 1:26:48.

Montrose tops Palisade in 4 games


Montrose defeated Palisade 25-19, 25-13, 13-25, 25-17 in a nonleague match Tuesday.

Morgan Thieszen paced Palisade with 13 kills, Shannon Rhodes had 32 assists, and Courtney Clark had 26 digs.
