Sports Combine is Sunday
Stocker Stadium will be the site of Sunday’s Colorado Mesa University-Western Rockies Sports Combine.
Utilizing the same electronic timing equipment employed in National Football League combines, athletes can undergo certified speed, power and agility tests. Marks can be used to establish a baseline to serve as motivation for training or to simply get verified results for recruiting purposes.
Register in advance at WRSCombine.com. Event-day registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The $25 registration fee covers all events and a formal, diploma-style certificate displaying event results can be ordered for an additional $10.
Events begin at noon and feature the 40-yard dash, the pro agility (5-10-5) drill, the three-cone “L” drill, the vertical jump, the standing long jump (broad jump), the sit and reach flexibility test, the bench press and the optional “pull your weight” contest. Awards follow at 3 p.m.
An 11 a.m. demonstration and warm-up period will precede testing.
Athletes should bring tennis shoes and cleats (no baseball or metal cleats). A sports drink and PowerBar will be provided, but bring any additional snacks or hydration.
Event evaluation and technique assistance will be provided and observed by the CMU track and field coaching staff and athletes.
