Smart Jock Chance Muller 12-18-08

Editor’s Note: The Daily Sentinel Student-Athlete of the Week is selected by the school’s athletic director. Fruita Monument’s Pat Noland selected Chance Muller, who has a 3.95 grade-point average. The honor will rotate among the four School District 51 high schools.

Student-Athlete: Chance Muller

School: Fruita Monument

Sport: Basketball

GPA: 3.95

Favorite subject: I have always been a real science kid.

Future: I am looking at Mesa but I am still undecided.

What’s your major?: Undecided, but I am looking a little bit at veterinary schools, maybe engineering.

Why?: My dad has a biology degree and my grandpa is a vet, so it is kinda in the family.

Why veterinary school?: I like being around animals and I have always enjoyed watching my grandpa work on animals.

Smart-Jockspeak: I have had to work to keep a balance with school and sports. I knew I wasn’t going to make a living on basketball, so my parents prioritized putting school first and when I had free time, I could go play basketball.
