Palisade’s Vanlandingham resigns

Palisade High School varsity softball coach John Vanlandingham has resigned, Palisade Athletic Director Michael Krueger announced Wednesday.

Vanlandingham resigned to “explore other interests,” according to the press release.

He was the head coach the past four years and was on the coaching staff the past nine years.

The Bulldogs (15-6) reached the Class 4A state tournament this past fall.

5 ‘Cats, 3 Tigers selected for boys All-Mountain League team

Five Fruita Monument and three Grand Junction boys made the 2010 All-Mountain League lacrosse team.

Ethan Grider, Kyle Hanson and AJ Meil of Fruita Monument made the first team with Grand Junction’s Ryan Arnold and Stuart Foster.

Jeff Cunningham and Willie Stevens of Fruita Monument and Kris States and Taylor Watkins of Grand Junction made the second team.

GJ, Fruita combine for nine players on girls All-Mountain League team

Five Grand Junction and four Fruita Monument girls made the 2010 All-Mountain League lacrosse team.

First team selections were Grand Junction attackers Morgan Armbruster, Amy Flukey and Santana Martinez, Fruita Monument center Katie Heil and goalie Stephanie Long.

Fruita Monument’s Clay Campbell and Allison Fox made the second team with Grand Junction’s Morgan Emmons.
