Mavs’ Pavy honored for kicking

Colorado Mesa University kicker Caleb Pavy is the RMAC special teams player of the week.

The junior from Denver made a career-high five field goals and scored 16 of the Mavericks’ 22 points in Mesa’s 22-3 victory over Fort Lewis on Sautrday in Durango.

Pavy made field goals of 39, 30, 36, 25 and 35 yards. His 39-yard field goal was his longest this season.

He has made 9 of 13 field goals this season and has kicked at least one field goal in five of six games.

Robbins in fifth for Mesa men

Colorado Mesa freshman Sean Robbins is in fifth place with a three-under-par 141 after two rounds Monday in the Colorado Christian Invitational at Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton.

Colorado State-Pueblo is in first place with 565 led by James Berry and Bryan Kruse with a five-under-par 139. They are in second place behind Western New Mexico’s Michael O’Connor with 138. The Mavericks are in ninth place with 608.

Mesa’s Ryan LaFramboise is 34th with 153, Eric Farmer is 42nd with 157 and Davis Kinney is 56th with 175. Brandon Bingaman was disqualified. He had a second round score of 66.

The third and final round is today.
