Taylor’s gets first wins of season

Gene Taylor’s American Legion baseball team picked up its first two wins of the summer Saturday, 7-6 over Slammers Black and 7-1 over the Farmington Cardinals, in the Tony Andenucio Tournament in Pueblo.

Against the Slammers, Taylor’s (2-7) got a two-run single by Ryan Mixon in the bottom of the fifth inning to come back after the Slammers scored five runs in the top of the inning to lead 6-4.

Mixon went 2 for 3, as did Jayke Brock. Mike McGovern went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs and Cody Rahmann picked up the win, striking out five and not allowing a walk in a complete-game effort.

Against Farmington, Mixon went 4 for 4, hit two home runs, scored three runs and drove in four. Austin Watson went 3 for 4 with two RBI. Scott Clow struck out six and walked only two, allowing one run on six hits for the win.
