Three Mavs earn baseball all-academic team

Three Colorado Mesa baseball players were selected to the Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 6 team.

Senior infielder Colton Little (3.58 GPA, mass communications), sophomore infielder Nate Robertson (3.57, sports management) and junior outfielder Austin Kaiser (3.76, exercise science) were three of five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference players to make the District 6 team. District 6 includes student-athletes from the RMAC, Heartland and Lone Star Conferences.

The All-District teams are chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Men’s Lacrosse

Colorado Mesa junior Johnny Nitti received the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s defensive player of the week award.

The junior defender recorded seven ground balls and caused three turnovers in the Mavericks’ 10-9 victory over Adams State last weekend.

The Mavericks (7-6, 4-2 WILA) finished second in the WILA.
