ThunderWolves get first win over Mesa wrestlers

Colorado State-Pueblo defeated Colorado Mesa 23-18 in an RMAC wrestling dual on Thursday night at Brownson Arena.

It was CSU-Pueblo’s first victory over the Mavericks since the program was reinstated three years ago. The Mavericks won each dual the past two seasons.

The ThunderWolves won the first four matches and six total. They won one by forfeit and one by technical fall.

Mesa’s Jordan Passehl pinned Cody Johnson in 1:57 at 197 pounds and Paco Retana-Quinones pinned Bill Gray in 1:23 at heavyweight. Nick Petersen defeated No. 7 ranked Adam Carey 5-3 at 184.
