Traffic Alert, April 3, 2011
The following road closures and maintenance projects may impact traffic this week:
Interstate 70 Business Project near Mesa Mall: CDOT is working to complete the I-70B reconstruction.
On Monday, crews will begin to machine pour eastbound lanes with concrete. Work will continue through April 8. During the time that the eastbound lanes are under construction, two through lanes in each direction will be located on the north side of the highway.
12th Street night closure for southbound traffic April 5-6: Southbound 12th Street between Orchard Avenue and North Avenue will be closed to through traffic Tuesday and Wednesday night for utility work. The closure will begin each night at 8 and reopen the following morning before 6.
The detour route will be Orchard Avenue down to Seventh Street. Local traffic will have access south bound on 12th Street between Orchard Avenue and Glenwood Avenue each night.
Northbound 25 Road closure April 4: On Monday only, northbound 25 Road will be closed to through traffic between F 1/2 Road and G Road for the repaving of 25 Road, just South of the G Road roundabout. Northbound through traffic on 25 Road will be detoured at F 1/2 Road.
G Road closure April 5-8: Tuesday through Friday, G Road will be closed to through traffic between 24 1/2 Road and 25 Road for storm sewer installation across G Road just east of 24 1/2 Road. Coming from the west, the detour route will be south down 24 1/2 Road to F 1/2 Road and coming from the east the detour route will be south down 25 Road to F 1/2 Road.
Downtown Uplift: The 400, 500 and 600 blocks of Main Street are closed to through traffic. A small portion of Sixth Street is closed from Main Street both south and north to the alleys for a construction staging area
The traffic signal at Fifth and Main streets has been removed. Pedestrians and drivers should use caution at this intersection. Pedestrian access on Main Street will remain open throughout construction. Parking is available in the Rood Avenue parking structure between Third and Fourth Street, along with parking areas north and south of Main Street, with pedestrian breezeways providing access to the businesses. Many businesses have access from the alleys as well.
29 Road Overpass: Construction continues on the 29 Road overpass over the Union Pacific railroad tracks and Interstate 70 Business Loop. This includes ongoing frontage road closure east of 29 Road; construction of the road base and median for 29 Road from North Avenue to Teller Avenue; access to the Mesa County Workforce Center is limited to the driveway on Sparn Street; eastbound and westbound I-70B traffic is shifted to the north near 29 Road; speed limit in the construction zone is 40 mph and fines are doubled in the work zone.
