Turnovers prove costly for Mesa men
Colorado Mesa’s men’s basketball team turned the ball over 23 times to help No. 22 Seattle Pacific defeat the Mavericks 67-55 in the Dixie State Classic in St. George, Utah.
The Mavericks (1-1) shot 43 percent from the floor and limited Seattle Pacific to 31.9 percent. Mesa had nine assists to its 23 turnovers.
Colton Burgon led Mesa with 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Two players scored in double figures for Seattle Pacific led by center Andy Poling with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Mesa led 25-18 at halftime.
