TV station returns to air today

Local news channel KREX-TV is re-launching the My Network TV affiliate channel KGJT starting today, said station general manager Ron Tillery.

My Network TV carries programming like WWE SmackDown, sitcoms and movies on channel 27 over the air or channel 16 on cable.

The Mesa State College football game will also be broadcast on that channel on Saturday.

Because of a January fire that burned down KREX’s facility and equipment, the station has been unable to offer KGJT.

With the help of new equipment that makes it easier and more efficient to receive, store, edit and broadcast syndicated and network programming, the station was able to bring KGJT back on line, Tillery said.

“It’s been a long road, but we are excited,” he said.

In November, KREX also plans to break ground on a new building. The station is housed in the PBS broadcasting studio at Western Colorado Community College.
