Two Mesa State wrestlers place in Wyoming Open

Mesa State College’s Jeremy Ensley and James Breidel each placed in the top four in the University of Wyoming Open on Saturday in Laramie, Wyo.

Ensley, a junior wrestling unattached because of eligibility problems, took third in the 125-pound elite division. He won four matches by decision after losing his first match. Ensley avenged his loss in the third-place match, defeating Cory Borges of Montana State 6-5.

Breidel, a freshman, too fourth in the 197-pound amateur division, lost his first match, but won three consecutive matches to reach the third-place match, where he lost to an unattached wrestler 11-4.

Other Mesa wrestlers won several matches, but lost one or two matches shy of placing.
