Warriors roll past Cortez in volleyball

The Central High School volleyball team capped an unbeaten Southwestern League season Saturday with a 25-22, 25-15, 25-14 victory at Montezuma-Cortez.

After a close first game, the Warriors took easy victories in the final two games.

Kristina Lindsey’s four aces and five kills paced a balanced Central effort. Amy Kame had 14 kills and four blocks. Haleigh Higgins had 24 assists, seven kills and four blocks.

Central (18-1, 10-0 SWL) awaits word from the Colorado High School Activities Association on this weekend’s district tournaments. The seedings for the first round of the state playoffs will be announced today by CHSAA.

Central is expected to get a home site on Saturday for one of Class 5A’s eight district tournaments.

First-round pairings for the state soccer playoffs in all classifications also will be released today by CHSAA.
