Western holds off Colorado Mesa men

GUNNISON — Western State limited the Colorado Mesa men’s basketball team to 35 percent shooting from the floor and defeated the Mavericks 58-57 at Paul Wright Gym.

Weylan Towns scored 14 points to lead the Mountaineers (6-9, 4-7 RMAC). Jordan Adams had 10 points.

Kevin Screen led Colorado Mesa (8-7, 6-5 RMAC) with 16 points. Michael Bear had 12, 10 in the first half. Landon Vermeer had 9 points.
