Elk hunters headed into the Hightower Mountain area east of Vega Reservoir will find numerous changes and surprises awaiting them. Energy development scheduled to begin soon will bring heavy equipment and drilling rigs to the popular hunting area. Vega Reservoir can been seen in the middle background of the photo with Grand Mesa in the distance.
Seen from the air, the scar of the Bull Mountain pipeline corridor snakes across open meadows, dark spruce forests and immense stands of green and gold aspen.
