Tristan Brown does a little bit of everything for Delta, which plays Roosevelt on Saturday in the Class 3A semifinals. Brown has run for 437 yards, has 14 catches for 230 yards and has scored 18 touchdowns. The junior also leads Delta in tackles, collecting 135 this season, an average of 11.3 per game.

The final step

Advancing to state title game focus for Delta, Roosevelt

The proverbial level of hunger for the Delta and Roosevelt high school football teams has intensified this week.
Delta is playing in the semifinal round of the Class 3A state playoffs for the second time in three seasons, and 10 seniors on this year’s roster want to avoid a second final-four loss. Roosevelt is playing in the semis for the first time since 2000, despite reaching the postseason six consecutive seasons.
Both teams will try to take their seasons one step further Saturday afternoon in Johnstown when the third-seeded Panthers (11-1) play at Peterson Field against the second-seeded Roughriders (11-1) for a trip to the 3A state championship game.
