Colorado Mesa’s Kevan Elcock, upper right, celebrates as he crosses home plate after hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning of Friday’s game against Colorado School of Mines. Elcock was greeted at the plate by teammates Zach McLeod, 20, and Andrew Contreras, 13.

NEW MILESTONE

In front of big crowd, Mavs push win streak to 22 games

It wasn’t a record night, but then again, it was.
Colorado Mesa’s baseball team fell just short of its own NCAA Division II regular-season attendance mark of 5,172 on Friday night, drawing 4,022 on a chilly night at Suplizio Field.
But those who bundled up for baseball and fireworks — and snow flurries during the national anthem — were also treated to the eighth-ranked Mavericks’ school-record 22nd consecutive victory, 7-5 over Colorado School of Mines.
