Palisade holds off Lutheran rally at Rotary Tournament

Hitting free throws down the stretch Thursday night and playing workmanlike defense helped the Palisade boys basketball team hold off Lutheran to win 67-65 at the Palisade Sunrise Rotary Basketball Tournament.
The Lions are ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, according to The Associated Press basketball poll. They’re also long and athletic. But the key, Palisade coach Jeremiah Baskin said, was the small things.
The Bulldogs took charges, made free throws, rebounded well, and created turnovers with a full-court press. All of these overshadowed a poor shooting night for Palisade, as the Bulldogs shot 24 percent from the floor in the first half.
