Colorado Mesa football coach Russ Martin likes the direction the Mavericks are going. CMU is No. 7 in the first Super Region Four poll.

Mavs on right track for NCAA football playoffs

Regional voters went along with the national poll in Monday’s first NCAA Division II Super Region Four football rankings — sort of.
With 10 teams in the region ranked in the national top 25 this week, the first poll features nine nationally ranked teams and one that is receiving votes.
Colorado Mesa (7-1) is No. 7 in the first poll that in three weeks will determine the seven teams that qualify for the playoffs from the region. After their ?70-21 blowout win at Adams State, the Mavericks moved up one spot in the American Football Coaches Association poll to No. 15.
“It’s nice to be in there, but like we’ve talked about before, there’s a lot of football left to be played,” CMU coach Russ Martin said Monday evening. “Not just for us, but for a lot of different people. It’s a great tribute to the program, but we have to take care of our business.”
