Caprock starting athletic traditions

You’ll notice a few things walking into the gym at Caprock Academy.
First, the walls are bright white, empty to the point of distraction. A lone Colorado High School Activities Association sign hangs on one wall, and various markings for exercises are dotted around the gym. Padding lines the eastern wall, but there’s a distinct lack of banners or other athletic-themed regalia.
It’s a clean slate.
Caprock Academy, a small K-12 public charter school that opened in 2007, launched varsity high school sports teams for the 2014-15 school year after admission into CHSAA late last school year.
Caprock Academy has a volleyball team this fall, with plans for boys and girls basketball in the winter and track in the spring. There’s also a junior varsity boys soccer team.
