Ryan Reno isn’t looking to strike out every batter he faces. The Mavs’ No. 2 starter knows he can’t throw his fastball past many players, but he relies on pinpoint control to get batters out, something he has excelled at this season.

Ability to locate his pitches key to success for Mavs’ Reno

Ryan Reno is not going to blow the ball by you.
And he’s fine with that.
“Do I wish I threw 90? Not necessarily,” the senior left-hander for the top-ranked Colorado Mesa baseball team said.
In high school, Reno came to grips with the fact that, at 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, he was never going to touch 100 mph on a radar gun. He knew it in junior college, when he won 21 games in two years at Northeastern Junior College and was a two-time All-Region IX first-team pitcher.
And he knows it at Mesa.
