Pedro Gonzalez began his professional career for the Colorado Rockies’ Dominican Summer League team as a shortstop and third baseman. When the 18-year-old was promoted to the Grand Junction Rockies, his height forced him to move to the outfield. The 6-foot-5 Gonzalez is still learning how to play in the outfield, and his transition to his new position and a new league has been tough so far. Gonzalez is hitting .190 with four doubles and eight RBI in 30 games.

Growth potential

Pedro Gonzalez outgrew the infield.
In 2015, Gonzalez played shortstop and third base for the Colorado Rockies’ Dominican Summer League affiliate. At roughly 6-foot-3 and still growing, he was an athletic and lanky prospect, with a frame that could support additional weight.
