A man was killed early Wednesday in an apparent shooting in Fruita in what local police are calling an “isolated incident.”
Fruita Police officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 Block of N. Coulson Street at approximately 12:10 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a female who had allegedly shot a male, according to a press release from the department.
On scene, police located a deceased man who appeared to have gunshot wounds. Sgt. John Coughran with Fruita Police said the investigation is still ongoing, but no one is in custody and all parties are accounted for.
The release stated the shooting was between “known subjects” and the department is not seeking any suspects at large. The identity of the deceased man is being withheld, pending notification of family members.
Police are working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the 21st District Attorney’s Office to process the scene and determine what charges, if any, should be filed. Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to assist.
