Saying they are frustrated with a Grand Valley Transit proposal that they consider one that would keep them among the lowest paid bus drivers in the nation, transit workers could vote to go on strike today.

Judi DeRusha, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1776, is to preside over a contract vote and a strike vote this evening. The union said in a press release early this morning that they have been in negotiations with Transdev, the French-based private contractor hired by GVT to operate the service, since last fall.
