Scott Rienks, right, has led three teams to a state basketball title — the De Beque boys in 1998 and the Paonia girls in 2010 and 2017.

Paonia High School girls basketball coach Scott Rienks is part of the 2020 Colorado High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame class.

Scott Rienks has led the Eagles to Class 2A state titles in 2010 and 2017, and twice were runners ups.

He was named the Class 2A Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2017.

Prior to taking over the Paonia girls program in 2007, Rienks was the head boys basketball coach at De Beque, and was named the 1A Basketball Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1998.

The Dragons won the 1A state title in 1998. 

Rienks has coached a number of sports in his career, but has spent most of his time coaching basketball.

As a boys coach, Rienks’ teams have a 93-63 record while his girls’ teams have gone 469-115.

Rienks graduated from Hayden High School in 1982, and graduated from Western State College in 1992. He began his coaching career at De Beque High School in 1993.
