Notice concerning the replacement of the headstone of Grand Junction co-founder, Richard D. Mobley Notice is hereby given that Legion of the West Camp 7, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War intends to replace the current headstone of the co-founder of Grand Junction and first Mesa County Judge, Richard Daniel Mobley (Born: 24 Jun 1833; Died: 10 Oct 1893), in the Masonic Section of Orchard Mesa Cemetery, as the current headstone is in poor condition. As such, it is requested tha?t any person claiming an interest, including any descendants or relatives of Mobley, come forward to voice any comments or concerns. If any such concerns are not received by the end of this notice being published on 20 December 2022, all ensuing concerns and objections will be considered null and void. Mobley’s original tombstone was purchased and placed by the Grand Army of the Republic in 1924, to which the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the congressionally designated and legal successor.
