Central teacher selected for award

Central High School teacher Amber Campbell was selected as the winner of the Colorado American String Teachers Association's Outstanding String Teacher Award.

ASTA members vote annually to select the award winner. Campbell will receive the award on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Colorado Music Educators Association Conference in Colorado Springs.

Date set for open auditions for 'Sylvia'

The Theatre Project Community Theatre will host open auditions for "Sylvia" at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Creative Avenues, 835 N. 26th St.

Auditions are for those age 18 and older. Come prepared with a short comedic monologue and be ready for cold readings.

Art sought for Palisade Peach Festival

The Palisade Chamber of Commerce has put out a call to artists to submit original art pieces to be used for the 51st anniversary of the Peach Festival in Palisade.

The focus of the art contest is to honor the history and impact of the agricultural community and should show peaches in a fun and pleasing format. Entry fees are $20 for one entry or $30 for two entries.

The deadline to drop off art is Feb. 28. The entries will be on display March 1–29 at The Blue Pig Gallery in Palisade for judging by the public and Palisade Chamber members. A reception will take place March 15 for final judging and to announce the winner.

Palisade Bluegrass releases lineup

The lineup for the Palisade Bluegrass & Roots Festival is out and features 11 bands as well as a Friday night Palisade Super Jam that musicians and fans alike will enjoy.

The festival is scheduled for June 14–16 in Riverbend Park in Palisade. Here's look at the lineup.

Friday, June 14: Wood Belly, Chain Station, Lonesome Days, Rapidgrass and the Palisade Super Jam.

Saturday, June 15: Lanie Lou and the Bird Dogs, Chatham County Line, Jon Stickley Trio and Rising Appalachia.

Sunday, June 16: Rainbow Girls, John Craigie and Lil'Smockies.

Country Jam adds to music lineup

Country Jam has added to its 2019 lineup that already features headliners Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Little Big Town and Alabama.

Also set to perform at the country music festival in Mack are Cole Swindell, Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Janson, Eli Young Band, Michael Ray, LANCO, Walker Hayes, Rodney Atkins, Tyler Rich, Ross Ellis, Adam Doleac, Smithfield, Jackson Michelson and Willie Jones.

Country Jam will be June 13–16 and tickets can be purchased at countryjam.com/tickets.
