Performance catches Outside interest

A story published Aug. 6 on Outside magazine's website highlights a recent community performance that used dance, spoken word, film and music to communicate the unique aspects of rivers and the need to protect them.

"When Modern Dance Meets River Conservation" by Heather Hansman can be found under Outside's Culture Notebook at outsideonline.com.

For the story, Hansman spoke with Rebecca Fleishman, who created "River of Angels," which was performed Aug. 1–3 at Colorado Mesa University.

"River of Angels" featured a number of local dancers and performers and was a fundraiser for Forever Our Rivers Foundation.

Hansman is the author of "Downriver: Into the Future Water of the West" released in April.
