'GOD OF CARNAGE'

Following a playground altercation between two 11-year-old boys, their parents meet to resolve the matter.

Niceties are observed at first, but the adult discussion quickly devolves into a childish evening of name-calling, tears and tantrums.

This student-directed comedy play written by Yasmina Reza will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6–7, in the Mesa Experimental Theatre of the Moss Performing Arts Center at Colorado Mesa University, 1231 N. 12th St.

The play contains mature themes and language.

Tickets cost $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6 for students and can be purchased at coloradomesa.edu/tickets or at the box office an hour before a performance.

'MAMMA MIA!'

Sophie dreams of a perfect wedding — one where her father gives her away — but her independent mom, Donna, refuses to talk about the past or Sophie's father.

Taking matters into her own hands, Sophie sneaks a peek in her mom's old diaries, discovering three possible dads.

With music composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of the Swedish pop group ABBA, the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship.

Presented by the Magic Circle Players this musical will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6–7, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Magic Circle Theater, 420 S. 12th St., in Montrose.

Additional performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturday, Sept. 13–14, Sept. 20–21, Sept. 27–28 and at 2 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 15, 22 and 29.
