Loud as thunder

Get a look at "Lady Linda," the Gateway-Unaweep Fire Department's newest fire engine, and "Jason-121," the brush truck, at Thunder in the Canyon on Saturday.

This event will begin at 10 a.m. with a 45-mph cruise with lights and sirens led by "Lady Linda" from the Cactus Park area down Colorado Highway 141 to Gateway, where a slower, more parade-like speed will be assumed.

Watch it all go by, then join the fun at the Gateway fire station where there will be a Burgers & Brats lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch costs $5 a plate.

Bring your classic or custom car or motorcycle to show during the day, check out the petting zoo or paint a horse. There will be a car wash, bake sale and face painting.

The fun is set to wrap up about 5 p.m.
