Interfaith Network plans reunion, picnic

The Grand Valley Interfaith Network is coordinating several activities this year as part of the annual Interfaith Awareness Week, happening Aug. 4–10.

Network members and participating faith leaders and their respective congregations will join activities that encourage learning about religious diversity and similarities.

"The events allow GVIN to raise awareness about the organization and the way its faith leaders interact with, befriend, and support one another, regardless of a preferred religion, spiritual belief, or secular affiliation. It is a learning opportunity for all involved and is carried out with mutual respect and curiosity," a news release said.

Interfaith messages, discussions, a blood drive, and movie screenings are among the activities planned. A "Human Family Reunion and Potluck Picnic" will be from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Aug. 10 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1425 N. Fifth St.

PAWS for a blessing service planned

Church of the Nativity will have its next PAWS for a Blessing Service at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 2175 Broadway.

Weather permitting, the service will take place outdoors, around the fire pit, behind the church building. In the event of warm temperatures, the service will move indoors.

The church's PAWS Ministry celebrates the human-animal bond. All furry friends, hoofy friends, feathery friends, slithery friends, fishy friends, etc., are welcome. Bring photos of your animal(s) if it is more practical.
