Concert pianist to perform in Palisade

Internationally celebrated concert pianist Jerry Nelson will perform at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Palisade Church of the Nazarene, 3595 Front St., in Palisade.

Nelson has established himself as one of the world's premier performers and composers. He has conducted orchestras from London and Tel Aviv to Nashville and Los Angeles, a news release said.

His creative touch appears on more than 500 recorded projects and his publishing and arranging efforts include several dozen original songs and more than 5,000 arrangements.

Palisade Church of the Nazarene will also host "Roar" vacation Bible school from 6–8:30 p.m. Monday–Friday at the church. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. The event is for ages 3 and older (must be potty trained).

Spirit of the Valley runs are planned

Registration is open for the Spirit of the Valley 1K and 5K Run, Walk 'N Roll that will take place at 9 a.m. Sept. 7 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 3888 27½ Road.

Proceeds will benefit recreational therapy programs for veterans in the Grand Valley and the Dominican Republic. Veterans and para-athletes are free. Brunch will be served to all participants. The event will feature both individual and team competitions.
