'Sunday in the Park' planned in Ridgway
The public is invited to the 32nd annual "Sunday in the Park" service at 10 a.m. July 7 at Hartwell Park in Ridgway, in the center of town on Colorado Highway 62.
The patriotic community event is hosted by Ridgway Community Church, Grace Ouray County Church and Colona Community Church "in the effort to rekindle small town values and community in celebration of our Christian heritage and the freedom and privileges we enjoy as Americans," a news release said.
Take a lawn chair. "United in Prayer" is the theme. The speaker is Green Beret Will Summer, a retired communications sergeant of Operation Detachment-Alpha 595. Summer's Army Special Forces team was featured in the book "Horse Riders" and the movie "12 Strong."
Five-piece live gospel band, The Hubbard Family, will provide the music. A free, traditional outdoor western barbecue will follow, available to all who attend.
