Unitarians holding Parents' Night Out

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Grand Valley will host a Parents' Night Out event from 6–9 p.m. Friday at the church, 536 Ouray Ave.

All children and youth are invited to the second monthly event that features dinner, a movie, and games while their grown-ups take the night off.

Cost is $10 per child with a $20 family cap.

Simulcast shows healthy marriage habits

Life Community Church will host a Marriage Simulcast Event next month featuring Dr. Paul David Tripp.

"Habits of a Health Marriage" will be offered Nov. 1–2 and will address the set of habits that guide a marriage.

"Are they healthy habits that result in a God-honoring and joyful marriage, or are they bad habits that lead to a self-centered and strained marriage?" a news release said.

The four-session simulcast will detail the necessary habits for a healthy marriage while identifying the bad habits that need to be uprooted.

Two sessions are offered from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Nov. 1 and two sessions are offered from 9–11 a.m. Nov. 2, at the church, 2140 Broadway. Cost is $15 per couple or $10 per individual. No childcare will be available.

Interfaith Network holding food drive

The Grand Valley Interfaith Network will host a Happy Fall Foods Day food drive on Oct. 19.

The food drive will benefit area food banks that feed people from Palisade to Fruita. All spiritual communities, non-faith based organizations and individuals are invited to participate.

Grocery bags are provided that have specific food lists attached to provide the foods most needed by Child and Migrant Services, The Agape Food Basket, The Community Food Bank, Kids Aid, Clifton Christian Church Food Program and Grand Valley Catholic Outreach. The agencies will be present at the drop-off location to load the donations into their respective vehicles and answer any questions about their services.

Grocery bags with the shopping lists attached can be picked up in advance at the Grand Valley Peace & Justice Resource Desk, just inside the Office Suites Entrance of 740 Gunnison Ave., at The Center For Independence.

The drop-off is from 9 a.m.–noon Oct. 19, in the east parking lot of Downtown Vineyard Church, at the corner of Fifth Street and Grand Avenue,
