Fun-filled weekend at Unitarian
The community is invited to a fun-filled weekend at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Grand Valley, 536 Ouray Ave.
The annual Ingathering barbecue is planned for 10 a.m.–1 p.m. today. A car wash will benefit the RE/Youth Program. Cost is $5 for the car wash.
The all-ages Ingathering/Water Ceremony is from 10:30–11:30 a.m. Sunday, to recognize the official beginning of a new church year.
"Everyone is invited to bring water to the service, symbolizing a special place you have been throughout the past year that is significant to you," a news release said.

Free Alpha course at Vineyard church
Vineyard Community Church will offer a free Alpha course Wednesdays, Sept. 11–Nov. 20, at the church, 2711 Unaweep Ave.
Alpha is offered in 170 countries around the world with 29 million people attending the course, a news release said. The series of 11 sessions explores the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create casual conversation. The church is offering an Alpha course for adults and children that run concurrently each week.
The course will go from 6–8 p.m., and a free dinner is included each night. Call 812-3113 for information.
Evening at the sanctuary on Wednesday
Church of the Nativity will host "An Evening at The Wildlife Sanctuary" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 2175 Broadway.
A representative from The Wildlife Sanctuary in Keenesburg will present on the sanctuary, the work it does, the world's captive wildlife crisis and more. Coffee and appetizers will be available at 6 p.m.
First United to host Sam Kauffman
First United Methodist Church will host internationally known singer, songwriter and recording artist Sam Kauffman at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the church, 522 White Ave.
Kauffman is from Servant's Heart Ministry and his concert is titled "Praise, Prayer and Thanksgiving with Gratitude." An offering will be taken.
The 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sept. 15 at the church will "Celebrate the Harvest." A women's workshop will follow from 1–4 that afternoon. "Women of the Harvest" will look at the stories of Naomi, Ruth and Abigail. Cost is $15 for the workshop.
