Favorite teacher and why: Adam Korte. Mr. Korte and I have gotten to know each other quite well. He has really helped me excel in my studies and push me to be the best student and person I can be. He has also taught me to look at the world around me in a new perspective and brought significant insight into my life and has been a key factor in helping me grow into an adult.

Personal hero and why: Sandra Nunez. Mrs. Nunez was my old music teacher in middle school. She taught me that no matter where you come from or whatever your background is, you can fulfill your dreams. She always said that a dream is not a true dream unless you work hard each and every day to reach it.

Preferred college: Claremont McKenna College

Dream job: Psychiatrist

Highlight of your high school experience: I have loved being able to experience so many clubs and to learn so many things that are not just school-related but are applicable to life. I have also really enjoyed being able to get the best education that I can within a loving community that is created at Palisade High School.

Q: What accomplishment are you the proudest of?

A: My proudest accomplishment is really realizing how much I have grown academically and personally. When I began high school, I was not sure what the future had in store for me, all I knew was that I could face any challenge that came my way. And being a part of the IB program can be a challenge but I have learned so much and hard work is paying off!

Q: If you were the principal of your high school for a week, what would you do or change?

A: If I was the principal for one day I would work to get to know every student and staff member and really learn who they are as a person and what makes them unique. Relationships are important and having strong relationships with others is good for the mind, body and soul.

Q: If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would you choose and why?

A: I would choose to have dinner with Charles Darwin. He was the father of the theory of evolution and even when no one would believe his discovery he still pursued his passion and eventually changed the world by doing something that he was interested in.

Q: If you could live anywhere or do anything for one year, what would you do and why?

A: I would go to South America to study their culture and how it differs from ours. South America is beautiful and home to many exotic creatures. There is so much to explore and the adventures would be wild!

Q: What advice would you give to yourself as a freshman?

A: I would tell myself that with each new day comes new strengths and thoughts. Don't get stuck on something that happened yesterday because that would only prevent you from being the best you possible.
